The Local Produce Buyer supports the Sr.
Merchandising Manager in coordination and management of locally and regionally grown products and programs within each designated market.
Under the direction of the Senior Merchandising Manager, the Regional Buyer will investigate sourcing options by market and coordinate sustainable local programs around products that meet Sprout's standards for quality and food safety.
This position will also provide all necessary direction around product ordering, delivery, and merchandising management at retail.
Research local and regional grower options for all designated markets within area of responsibility to support a minimum of 15 items during seasonal growing windowWorking with the Procurement, Accounting, and Food Safety departments, coordinate vendor authorization and set up for designated grower partnershipsCollaborate with the Procurement teams for each region to determine approved items as well as delivery mechanisms and schedules to support order and delivery processes for the storesWork directly with suppliers to facilitate collection of item, cost, and delivery informationDevelop and communicate ordering and merchandising direction to store teams to ensure consistency in program approach and supportPrimary customer contact person for all distribution centers including:
allocation of products to each store, inventory control support, vendor delivery schedule supervision, communication and recover of rejected product, etc.
Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files for quantity and cost accuracyAssist the Category Manager with analyzing progress against department's objectives and initiativesAssist in vendor and new item set up and maintenance processesAssist with all weekly regular and promotional merchandising communication tactics for the regional and store teamsWork on location within one of the core markets with consistent travel to other designated regions based on business needs Bachelor Degree preferred with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Buying; or an acceptable combination of education and experienceAbility to successfully manage concurrent projects and meet deadlinesExcellent customer service skillsAbility to preserve confidentiality of informationStrong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritizeHigh level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook)#LI-AZ1In addition to a rewarding career, Sprouts offers a comprehensive program to help support you and your family.
